Arkels Museum: a village in rooms and objects

The Arkels Museum tells the story of Arkel and its surroundings. A mayor’s room, living room and grocer’s shop give local history a recognisable, domestic scale.

A room with a function

In the furnished rooms, look not only at the individual items but also at how together they represent a use. A study prompts different questions from a living room. The explanations help to connect both to Arkel.

A shop as a meeting place

The grocer’s display offers a way into everyday buying and selling. Ask which objects have a local origin. Temporary exhibitions may also highlight other subjects from the village; check what is currently on show.

Morning or Saturday afternoon

The regular opening is on Tuesday morning and on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. Other times are only possible by telephone appointment. An occasional mention of an evening opening is therefore no reason to set off without confirmation.

Before you go

Check that it is the right Saturday or make an appointment for a different time.
