A village in parts
A small kitchen, grocer’s shop, barber’s and bakery show different everyday functions. Choose a few parts and look at which objects were needed for the work. That way the tour becomes more than a series of familiar items.
Work beyond the shop too
Farm implements and the tools of osier-bed workers (griendwerkers) broaden the story. They show different kinds of labour from the village shops. Ask how this work was connected with Barendrecht and the surrounding landscape.
The archive is a separate appointment
The museum’s regular opening day is Tuesday. The archive and genealogy working group also has a Saturday session, but that is not a general extra museum day. Schools, groups and specific research questions require consultation in advance.
