Look at the door, the plank bed and the dimensions, and ask which parts are original. The bare space makes confinement tangible, without imagination being allowed to replace facts.
Names in the Doodenboeken
The books give prisoners an identity and document what happened to them. Follow one name through photo, date and source, and respect missing information.
Junior route with guidance
Oranjehotel Junior offers younger visitors their own way in. Discuss afterwards which part is documentary and which part is a reconstruction for teaching purposes.
Before you go
Tuesday–Sunday 10.30–17.00; Monday closed. Use the entrance on the corner of Stevinstraat and check the hours for commemorations and public holidays. Bear in mind the emotional weight of personal stories and allow enough time to take things in calmly.
