Note the thickness, openings and orientation of the fort. Ask which parts are directly connected with the defence of the waterway.
Route through the fort
Ask which rooms you can visit and whether the route has changes in level. Use a floor plan to see where the accessible parts lie within the fort and ask about their former function.
Museum and events venue
The building also serves as a present-day events venue. Check whether an activity shortens the museum route or changes the opening times.
Before you go
Outside school holidays the museum is open on Sunday 11.00–16.00. For new holiday openings, check the current calendar; no confirmed future holiday schedule is available. Also check for any event closures before you set off.
