Leiden as a stopover
The Pilgrims lived in Leiden from 1609 to 1620. Look at their story from that Dutch interim phase: for them the city was a home, not a footnote to the crossing. That perspective offers a different way into a well-known American story.
A house by the church
The museum is in a former sexton’s house. The small-scale setting calls for unhurried looking. You could combine it with the Pieterskerk, but ask at the ticket desk about the options and price of a combination.
Preparing a visit
You enter via Museumcafé Pieter on the Kloksteeg. On Wednesdays there is an English-language guided tour, which you book. The small building has stairs and is not accessible to wheelchairs.
