Coöperatie Museum puts joint purchasing in the shop window

A shop-like presentation on the Lange Haven tells how Dutch consumer cooperatives grew from joint purchasing into brands such as HAKA and COOP.

Plan your visit ↗

The shop as a way of telling the story

Look at the shop-like presentation and the old-fashioned scales as parts of selling. Ask which objects were actually used and which evoke the shop setting.

HAKA on the label

The HAKA theme shows how cooperatives organised production and distribution. Ask which own-brand examples are on display and what they say about target group and graphic style.

The guide provides context

The personal guided tour links the bakery, the grocer’s and post-war prosperity. Ask questions about dates and distinguish the organisational model from the advertising story.

Before you go

Open Wednesday–Friday 13.00–17.00 and Saturday 11.00–17.00; closed on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. Admission and guided tour are free. Public holidays are not specified and another page gives Saturday opening only from 13.00, so check in advance.
